    Hi all,

The Car - 05 Focus Automatic.
The Problem - Bonnet will not open.

The battery is flat as a fart,
So i tried to open the bonnet to get the battery for charging and it will not open,
The key is turning in the release hole but it's having no affect at all and feels like the cable is disconnected or something like that.
I had it open yesterday no problem at all - it opened first time as it has always done.

Not forgetting it's an Automatic so i can't bump start it....or really even move it much.

Is there any other way of getting the bonnet up or even to get a charge into the car so i can start it, really need the car running asap.
I have a good but basic understanding of car mechanics and electrics so given advice i should be ok.

Hope someone can help, i'm really stuck.

If you can get under the car you can unbolt the latch (with difficulty)
Another option to get the car going would be to get those car chargers that use the cigarette lighter socket.

I had same problems with my bonnet its a very bad design. Unfortunately there's is no easy way. What I had to do was pull at the bottom of the grill. Its only clipped into bumper so it will come out and give you just enough room to get you hand in behind and unclip the key barrel from the grill.
You can then guide to key barrel and link into the bonnet latch receiver and turn key anticlockwise first then clockwise to open bonnet.
You will need someone to hold the grill up for you. Do not attempt to open with long nose pliers as its only soft plastic in the latch receiver and is easily damaged.
When you get the bonnet open you have plenty of access to replace the key barrel and link. I would advise putting in extra fixings on top part of grill as this will help keeping the link in place for future.

I'm on my phone right now but I did a how to in the DIY section, just search Focus bonnet.

You don't have I damage anything if you follow my guide. Good luck. :)

    Thanks people,
I got it done with no damage to the car so i'll have no parts to replace.
But i must say that's one stupid f*cking design.
