    Hi guys, would appreciate some help on this.
    Question: Express the length l of a chord of a circle of radius 5 as a function of its distance x from the centre of the circle, and determine the domain of the function.
    Answer is l=2(square root of 25-x squared)

    My understanding is that the convention in this forum is to give hints rather than full explanations! Therefore: draw a diagram including the chord, its perpendicular bisector (which passes through the centre of the circle), and the line segment from the centre to an end-point of the chord (the length of which is known). Pythagros' theorem from there!
