Out of those I'd pick the A6. But personally if I was going back to an estate I'd be looking hard at a 5 series. I drove both the A6 and 5er and much prefer the 5.

That's what I thought aswell! However after a quick check the VRT on the E Class is almost €12,000 while the Audi's are around half that.. So it looks like its between the Audi's!

I would actually hold off until the 2012 model comes into your budget that's what I am doing albeit a saloon wife hates estates..

Also the mpg of the Audi are better, significantly to my surprise, it add up over year or two.

A6 look very old now though I think.

It really depends on the car it seems, I only really do it for lower mileage and better extras. However with everything included (€21,000 for the car, €7000 for the VRT and €1000 for ferry etc.) it comes to at most €29,000.
Compared to cars here you get a better car and less mileage for €4000 less.

Thats what attracted me to it in the first place! :D Realistically I think the A6 is the best bet though!

    €1k for ferry?

I got over and back to the UK from (Holyhead>Liverpool>Holyhead) for about €300, if even.

I've never done it personally so I was being conservative just in case of unforeseen extras, €300 seems reasonable enough though
