Certified birth certificate: needed for Irish citizenship application

Hi

Just a quick question. In the future my spouse will become eligible to apply for Irish citizenship. This requires me (the Irish spouse) to get a copy of my certified birth certificate. The issue is I was born in Northern Ireland.

Do I just need to get a notary, Commissioner for Oaths or Peace Commissioner to certify it? Is it ok to get a notary in Northern Ireland to do this? Or does it have to be one from the State?

If your original birth certificate is needed then you will need original. It'd not that hard these days. Google births/deaths/marriages in Northern Ireland and contact them. It seems you have a little time to get this done, so instead of being in a rush I would start the ball rolling now.

I used both these services about this time last year and had no problems at all. Both services are very quick.
