I have zero knowledge in regards to XBOX but I do have a question, is it possible to replace the GPU either by yourself (if technical skill allows) or by sending it for repairs for a fee? Just wondering because a mate of mine has a similar issue with his XBOX so I am wondering if the two issues are somehow correlated?

Yes you can replace a GPU and then reball it back on with lead solder. But it has to be from the same version xbox. Like jasper etc..

Thank you for the clarification, I will pass it along to my friend, who I am sure will be happy. I will keep you guys posted on what he decides to do, as he is in a similar field as me (electronics).:) But as I have mentioned I am a PS3 guy, nothing against XBOX, but I am a huge fan of the Gran Turismo and IL-2 Sturmovik series and sadly the first is Playstation only. However I am considering purchasing the new Microsoft console as I have heard and read good things about it. I am not a pro/against console person, I would gladly have both consoles sharing a HDMI hub:)

I spoke with my friend, he inquired about *Jasper* and asked me to relay a message( it is the last I promise, I do not want to hijack the thread and I DEARLY apologize) I believe he has *The Falcon Crest* as we did some research on the matter, and there is a place below the X Trash sticker, next to the barcode on the right where his says 12V-14.2Amps / 5V-1Amp and I believe that stands for the Facon Crest which is 65nm CPU and 90nm GPU vs what you mentioned; *The Jasper* is 12.1Amps :) As far as fixing it, he does similar work for a living and his biggest *problem* as he put it mildly would be which gun to use *soldering iron*, but he calls them his *guns* as some of them indeed look like small pistols with a cord :p The few I own are either with a small control station or just a plain old cord attached to the handle-terminal board-heating element-grounding spring-nipple:p with screw in tip. I prefer the station as the tips have a round enclosure and a nut and I have a variety of different tips for the job ( got side tracked, sorry but I do love my tools). But yes, he will look on a few part supplier websites and he will go from there. I wanted to help but he is very territorial about his work:o, I think I may have heard a growl over the phone when we spoke but he claims he was clearing his throat:D But thank you for your help, much appreciated.

P.S Great now he wants to come over to borrow some P1000 sand paper /facepalm.
