Comrade uncle_sam_ie has plunged me head first into Russian razor перестро́йка..

I'm waiting for my 'Ideal' to arrive, in the meantime, I stumbled across the, 'Saiver Travel kit', which will probably be acquired at some point. At the price, €10, P&P inclusive, it's a dinky little bargain.

    eBay seller: 2630477

The handle thread, if it is a Gillette/Merkur etc standard, you could then transplant your favourite razor head over to the kit.

Then you have the, 'Saiver ProfiMed', from the same seller, just shy of €11, P&P inclusive.

The razor has an unusual, combi head (comb & bar), normally seen with much more expensive razors from the likes of iKon and Pils.

There's also an 'extra plate' on both Saiver razor models, to allow the use of two blades at once(?), which I can't say that I understand..

Mine should get here soon. I'll let you know how I get on with it. The guy in the review said he liked the razor so hopefully it will be alright.

I received my Russian razor today. I was half expecting a total piece of crap but it's not. It has a real military issue look to it and feels like it will last and not fall apart on me. I love the case that it comes in so, I can see me using this as a travel razor. The only thing I don't like about it is that the adjustment goes from peach fuzz mild to mild. Also, the movement on the adjustment knob is not very smooth. But other than that, it's not bad and was well worth the €15 + €10 for shipping.

Just to say, for anyone interested in this particular razor, shop around, I picked mine up for just over €10, with postage pushing the price up to €17, total.

I have a quality control stamp, with a date from 2002 on it. Box is musty, with some scuffing, but razor is new.
