Veronica Mars and a few others that i cant remember right now but i would think that they would still be in the cinema for why would they be so much to buy ? surely they cant be on DVD yet ?

how much would it cost to see these at the cinema ? if you cant get to the cinema and want a good night in with friends with your great big flat screen 5.1 surround sound 12 euro is good ! thats why we have big screens and surround sound lets be happy someone is giving this as a choice.

They can do what they like it seems, only silly if someone purchases.

I don't think so. Take a two adults with a couple of young kids, factor in the cost of the cinema tickets and a baby sitter if they wanted to go to the local cinema for a couple of hours, €12 to watch a relatively new film at home is quite a good deal.

The flaw in your argument. Take two adults. No children therefore no babysitter. Spending 12euro to see a film the way it is meant to be seen.

How is there a flaw in my argument when I specifically cite the case of two adults with a couple of young children ?

You were replying to someone who said it was a 'rip off'
Your first sentence was 'I don't think so'

Well it is a rip off to the likes of myself and others who have no children.

When my children were younger a night at the cinema was an event.

And in the scenario I gave I'm simply saying that I don't think it's a rip off. It obviously won't suit everyone but for a lot it's an attractive option.

tickets with us in galway are 9euro per person. two adults two children 23euro to take my family it would cost 35ish by the time you take petrol and sweats popcorn drinks you've spent 50 euro so i do think sky charging 11euro is very reasonable and with three young children the cinema can sometimes be the worst place to take the !

There is no comparison between the experience of watching a movie in your living room to watching it on the big screen of the cinema. Sky Cinema is an expensive compromise, not the same, regardless of your home cinema setup. I have a 50" LCD and 5.1 here but still class the cinema as a much better experience

Anyway, most families treat the cinema as a fun day out, I'm curious as to how the "oh we'll watch it here" goes down :D Daddys a cheapskate :P

You're assuming we all want to watch kids movies.

No, I'm replying to the argument put forward in the post before mine as to why it's good value

No, I'm replying to the argument put forward in the post before mine as to why it's good value

And I assume ThisRegards argument is that it is only "good value" if it's a movie that the whole family are going to be watching.

on one hand you have no kids and the other you have :D

Not too bad for a brand new movie
XtraVision charge €5 for new release but none are in the cinema - This at €12 is not bad for a brand new in cinema release for those who might like to watch at home rather than the hassle of the cinema.
Again suits some and not others

Xtravision are expensive, but they have a reason for this, they run a bricks and mortar shop and employ staff. This is on demand content which should be priced as such

Xtravision should have gotten in to the online space years ago but they failed to see the opportunity

I dont see many other options in Ireland for up to date online/streaming movies so this is not bad for a brand new just in cinema movie at the price

Take for example Blinkbox available in the UK
    about €5.75 to watch Gravity

so €12 is not too bad for a movie still in the cinema

The true cinema experience, The smell of popcorn, the lush carpets, the whispering, the big screen the, i could go on and on the experience is second to none we all agree with this im sure. However what with so many films being made we have to make the choices of whats worth it and whats not. so many films claim to be the next best thing when in reality some should not even be on the big screen ! When we do actually know its worth going to see its the best.

How many people have gone to see 3d films when in fact there not all that they said it would be.

The problem with children is no matter how much they want to go and watch the movie when they sit down its sometimes a different story they can spoil it for others talking to loud, crying, back and forth, playing in the rows of seats paying little or no attention to the film spilling drinks/sweets the list goes on.

So in allot of cases it just makes sense to me that when sky have a film that you feel is worth staying at home for to watch it out ranks going to the cinema for. Its not about being a cheapskate its about judgement and whats best for everyone including other cinema-goers.

I don't understand why when sky do something like this so many people feel the need to knock those and sky who think that this is a good idea. We will see how popular this will actually be if sky can bring this choice to us then at least see it for what it actually is.

I don't think anyone believes this is a bad thing do they ? Do you ?
