My brother is in the process of building a house at the moment and we are discussing heating systems. I remember a friend of mine telling me of a neighbor of his who's heating system was primarily based in his shed. What I took from what he said was that his neighbor could just load up this when he comes home in the evening and that was the end of it.He said it was basically like a huge stove that used solid fuel. This in turn heated all the rads and water.

I think this is a great idea as the only problem I have with solid fuel fires is that it is messy and time consuming. Can anybody tell me the name of this system?

Wood-pellet boilers work like that. They will even run for longer periods without needing attention.

Perhaps you are thinking of something using logs. I have seen old ones, but they didn't look very efficient and I have no idea who makes them.

How far is your shed from the house? If it's any kind of distance it'll be the best heated garden in Ireland! Also, is your shed brick?
