    Retiring apparently.

Brutal anyway, Cue Card must be some horse to win with him on his back

Wasn't McCoy or Walsh but not as bad as some make out either. Saw him give plenty of fine winning rides over the years and from a great family who give a lot to the game.

Wasn't crazy about him but have to say after seeing him
Interviewed on the morning line I thought he was quiet genuine. Very surprised he's packed it in with cue card at the stable

How many grade 1 winners did you ride?

One. But I'm not a jockey and have sat on a horse 3 times in my life.

Think that makes me better than tizzard

    Seriously?

These type of replies are beyond stupid.

Ya that argument is pointless. Just because you don't ride horses doesn't mean you can't see a bad or misjudged ride. If that was the case most of us could never have an opinion on any sports person since we aren't professionals.

The other possibility is that some punters' "opinions" are in reality uninformed and clueless. 99.99% of punters just don't have the basic knowledge of what is involved in training or race riding yet everyone is an expert somehow.

Take Brian Hughes ride on Ataglance at the Festival when he went for a gap which closed on him instead of switching and losing momentum. He made a split second decision which didn't work out, it happens. Yet he was utterly abused by the grandstand and online jockeys, most of them talking through their pockets of course.

Yeah a lot of people are talking through their pockets but you don't have to be a jockey to recognize good rides and bad rides even if you don't appreciate the intricate details in race riding. Being a jockey doesn't mean you are a good one. There is a serious amount of mediocre jockeys around. Some haven't a clock in their head and I don't need to be a jockey to see that.

Maybe people are too young to remember, but when Joe Tizzard started out, he was definitely one of the top young jockey's for a few years. Unfortunately for him, he got that very nasty injury very early in his career that I believe nearly left him paralyzed. After that, for me at least, I think he just lost a bit of that fearlessness when jumping. Still a good jockey, just not a top one.

Yeah don't think he deserves all the stick he gets not a ruby/AP/Gerraghty but a good jock nonetheless! For a small enough yard they are good operators always ones to watch in the bumpers/ novice races!!
