Might be worth mentioning briefly why.

People might not help you if they think you are going to cause the owner harm. (Especially with that user name :) )

Sorry to hear about the family troubles. Sounds like a great thing to do. Hope it works out.

You could try contact the main dealer BMW garages in the area. They might have the contact details of the owner from previous services etc. They wont give you the details of course but they might pass yours onto them. Its a very long shot but cant do any harm to ask.

A cartel report will tell you how many times it was sold and when. Might be worth investing the 20 euro in one.

You can check on motortax.ie too and see if it has recently changed hands. I have checked and it has not in the past 3 months.

There is an old thread her too and somebody mentioned that you can ask the motor tax office . I am not too sure if I believe them though. But another route to look into all the same.

Nobody can give out that sort of information; its against data protection laws.

Power of the Internet. All I've to do now is wait for owner to decide if he wants to sell or not.

Just be very careful. Your helpful friend in the motor industry could be in some trouble if they go giving out the owners personal information (unless it is someone who knows the owner personally, ie not through work).

If someone showed up at my door looking to buy my car and said that they got my information from a dealer or whatever I would wage unholy war on whoever was responsible for giving out my details...

Helpful person passed on my number to the owner, who then called me. I wasn't given any details of owner, not even his name.

    So... Will they sell?!

Reckon he will. Fingers crossed. Sounds like decent fella too.
