I have that very same stick bought from memoryc and my vu reciever wont recognise it,i bought a bunch of different usb sticks and cards from memoryc and this one never worked in the vu receiver, its fine on the pc or laptop so not sure what the issue is and as I have another one that works on the receiver I never bothered looking in to the issue, might just be the format, just something to keep in mind, memoryc are good to deal with and are good on returns so you should be ok either way

I don't think solid state stick drives can playback as fast as required for video quality. I use a spinning drive for both my Freesat box and LG TV. Much better value for money for the amount of storage. Never could get any stick to work.

No, they usually have faster read times than lots of mechanical drives, the write speed would not be that fast on the cheaper ones though

Vu run in Linux simply format the pen to ext format which is what you need for a linux based box and your pen will work correctly, a pc uses NTFS or fat32 usually which is a Microsoft owned technology and which most linux based boxes wont work with.
