Curious about this .Have heard of one or two people suggest it cost a lot more than it should to fill their cars in a now shut forecourt.Even a tiny difference in volume would make more difference than a cent or two per litre cost .Anyone?

All the stations are supposed to have their pumps tested by the NSAI, I think it is. They then put a seal on that can't be tampered with its a criminal offense, however it probably is done by some stations but they run a serious risk if caught. The temperature can cause a very small difference in the amount you get if you fill up in the morning the petrol will be colder so you will get slightly more as it will expand in your tank but its a minute amount.

Unfortunately they don't run that much of a serious risk at all. The station in the link I have provided got fined a paltry 14k which given the amount of business that particular station does is a pathetic fine.

If you are ever unhappy or just unsure about the volumes dispensed by a station just ring the Nsai and report it

They will ALWAYS follow up within a short period of time and test every pump on the site

Doing it helps regulate the cowboys out of the industry
