Hi, the metal wall vent on the outside of my house (vent for suspended floor about 5 inches from ground) has fallen off - it appears to have been cemented in place or fixed with the same morter as the brickwork. Can anyone advise how best to fix it back up?

Thanks for your reply. I think I might silicon the vent (which is a heavy galvanised piece) into position and then use exterior polyfilla to fill and blend edgesof vent where meets brickwork

Silicone will struggle to hold up a metal vent (particularly if it's one of those heavy pattern ones I am thinking off). I would suggest using a construction adhesive/panel adhesive like DAP, Titebond- any of these are in cartridge form and used in a sealant gun. You get instant grab with most of them but if required you can prop/ wedge the grille in place with a scrap of wood and a concrete block while the glue goes off. Check out the instructions on the tube to see which is suitable for use with metal. Make sure grille is cleaned to ensure a good bond. You can patch in the repair after with mortar/ exterior repair filler.
