    Hello,

Does anyone have any recommendations for 2 or 3 piece band that would play for 1.5/2 hours for a wedding receiption in the munster area.

We'd love lively acoustic guitars but open to other suggestions. We don't want to pay more than €400ish

or do you think background music in the form of an ipod would be just as good?

    Thanks!

I think a good pianist or a harp sounds lovely in the background but we didn't end up having music at the reception at all.

do you mean for when guests get to a hotel and pre meal?

going rate is 150-200 per man for that kind of thing so 400e is sort of on the limit of what youre going to get for a 2-3 piece.

Did you check the hotels providor list to see if anyone was local?

ipod would be fine but wheres it for? is it the bar?

    Thanks - yes, pre-reception drinks!

They do but nothing appealing on the list I'm afraid, it's more classical music and we're looking for something a little more modern.

Ideally it's for outside/garden reception (hopefully if the weather is good :)

    Thanks :)

I know some 2-3 pieces that do that but youd be paying a hefty price to get them down from dublin. Have you a band on that evening? lots of bands do packages that offer pre-reception music. might not be what youre looking for though.

try weddingsonline to get some ideas but I normally some of those guys are weighed down with agency fees so I reckon youll be paying a lot more than 400. worth a shot though.

I'd ipod it and wouldnt worry. if it rains you havent lost anything then. :)

It cost us an extra 300 for a jazz duo booked through the Band. If these were separate, it would've been a good bit more I think.

Luckily enough for me, as part of our deal with the hotel we got a pianist for 2 hours which is perfect!!!

We're doing an iPod as well. It's only background music while everyone's talking anyway so I don't really see the benefit in spending 300 or 400 euro for it.

Try The Melodies! (2 of the very talented lads in The Pearls)... But a lot of weddings bands will offer you a jazz reception trio for a good price, as somebody stated above, so double check with whomever you have booked/are looking at booking too!

A nice piano player in the background can do just as good as a 2/3 piece though and you'd definitely get that for a good price.
