Ok, so it's a 24 month contract, but I'm paying €20 already for 300mins, 300 texts and 500mb of data, so for the same price for the next 24 months I get a free Samsung Galaxy S3 mini for free. Don't say it's €480 for the phone as I'm already paying €20 a month. I know it won't suit everyone, but for users like me, I never go over 300 mins or texts. On Tesco which is 02 network.

Edit: ******Title should read for FREE not for €20*****

A better deal imo would be to go on 48s plan of 10 a month which gives all texts, 60 landmine minutes, 300 minutes to any network and 1gb data.
PAYG so no contract. Works out at 240 over the 24 months then just buy any phone you want. Best I would think for cheap is the Moto G.

theres also no contract tie so you are free to change network whenever of you move house/country etc.

Im only giving my opinion here as I do not rate the S3 a good phone especially when a Moto G can be got.

I bought one of these for E150 before Christmas.

I paid just less than E10 for an unlock code from this fella

He posted me back the code once I paid him by paypal and sent him my EMI?? number. It is now sim free and works fine on 48.

I imagine your warranty is voided with a non-official unlocking code though.

If I was going for that offer I would personally be looking at the €30 a month option that gives you an additional 14.5GB of data as well as extra minutes and texts. TM allow tethering/portable hotspot for their data.

The problem I'd have with it, is that the S3 Mini is basically a minor update to the Samsung Ace 2. Quite old tech and I seriously doubt it will get all the android updates for the next 2yrs.

True about the updates, as the S3 mini has already been out for a while now already. However it is due to receive KitKat, which could very well be it's last.

It's more liken to the S3 than the Ace 2 though IMHO.
Quite an impressive phone with a lovely super amoled screen. At 4" the size may suit some people better.
Also the Sd Card slot should also intrest people who rather have their music 'on board' rather than in the cloud eg 32GB vs max 16GB (excluding externally connected memory).

S3/mini and the Moto are both good phones in their own right nonetheless. Expecially considering the price point.

Its only a tiny bit better than the ace 2 screen is a tiny bit bigger cpu a tiny bit faster. Its a much bigger jump to a full sized S3

Why do ye think android updates are important?

IMO You'll get apps which will be updated to only work with a newer version of the OS. If its a critical app, you'll be miffed if it doesn't work. Also the OS updates often bring fixes, new functionality etc.

    - 48 months with "guido" plan.
    (€10 for 360 mins, all SMS & 1gb data)
    - moto G, from expansys @ €210

    Total cost for 2 years = €450

No contract & a much better phone

Not really a bargain, more of a rip off.

What makes you think it's a non-official unlocking code?

Just because I didn't get it from Vodafone doesn't make it so.

Agreed. Best price for a 16g version is £139 from Tesco Direct in the UK. Add say an extra six quid to cover getting it unlocked and delivered via Parcel Motel and you're looking at about €172 delivered.

Knock £10 off with discount code:TDX-PR4N.

I like this phone - bought it last year from Vodafone, and when it was stolen last month I had no hesitation in getting another (100 bucks cheaper though). I'm not into games and don't have a huge number of apps, so maybe not a typical user.
