    Hello,

My husband and I are thinking of relocating to Ireland- I am British and he is from Pakistan. He got a job offer in Dublin so we plan to go to the GNIB on arrival and apply for residence.

After applying do they give you a registration certificate with an EU4 stamp that permits him to work immediately?

We read that on the citizens information website that he gets a stamp which allows him to work immediately. can somebody confirm if this is true?

    Thanks!

I don't think he can work immediately. I am in a similar situation and my understanding is that it takes 2 months to a year for the spouse to be eligible to work. The quicker you register at the GNIB, the quicker the application is processed.
But I would also like to hear from others about this!

OP, I don't think he will get stamp 4 straight away (Open to correction). I think only after a few years in employment (Two I believe) will he then get onto stamp 4.

I think he will be on stamp 1 [Ref: http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/INIS/Pages/Stamps]
    STAMP 1
This person is permitted to remain in Ireland on conditions that the holder does not enter employment unless the employer has obtained a permit, does not engage in any business or profession without the permission of the Minister for Justice and Equality and does not remain later than a specified date.

As he is a Non EU/EEA person, did the employer apply work permit for him so he can start work??

See the following link for more detail about employment work permit [Ref: http://www.djei.ie/labour/workpermits/index.htm]

The INIS site give you the main information about Imigration while the DJEI site goes into detail about employment.

As for yourself, you should be ok as you are EU/EEA (work permit wise you don't need it) but you will still need to apply for PPS number (Social security number equivalent).

    Hope this helps, good luck

He should be able to get a Stamp 4 EU Fam as he is the spouse of a EEA Citizen.

Have you got any reference out of curiousity, I'm genuinely interested and can't seem to find it myself from my googling.

Through my day to day work I know that Non EEA spouses of EEA citizens are granted Stamp 4s.
