This is not a north/south thing, but wonder why the pgatour have a union jack beside Rory and the other lads from the north on there app. They are usually shown with the Northern Ireland flag, the Scotish and English players use there respective flags.....a funny one. Might be just on the windows phone app, has anyone downloaded on another OS system.

Not the first time this has happened. Once saw Paddy had a union jack beside him on pga tour leaderboard. Just a clerical error. Sure send them an email and it will be sorted lickitysplit.

We're not going to get all political here or going to discuss players nationalities thanks

TBH, it sounds like a clerical error by someone who just doesn't know better. scrubber72 is right, send them an email or leave them a comment...

Or just leave it altogether. Not really a big deal.

Actually, without getting political, it is a big deal for anyone of any nationality. You would want to be represented under your chosen flag. It is also important for many of the fans...

    No point getting into it.

I did mention at the start of my post it was not a "political thing". Was just curious why it was the case. Might drop them an e- mail for a laugh to see what happens.

Can you provide a link to the offending web page?

I have never seen a Union Jack against any player because as with soccer, England, Wales, Scotland and NI are considered separate 'countries' so for example on the leaderboard of the Arnold Palmer invitational tonight, Paul Casey and Ian Poulter have the flag of St. George (England) against their names and Graeme McDowell is clearly listed as a NI player.

And here is Rory's player profile on the PGA Tour website where you can clearly see the red hand of Ulster on the flag and his 'country' is shown as 'Northern Ireland'.....

    http://www.pgatour.com/players/player.28237.rory-mcilroy.html

Edit: I just noticed that the OP mentioned the PGA 'app' so I checked the PGA app on both Android and iTunes and in both cases, Mcilroy has the NI flag against his name when you click on 'Players' and scroll to his profile.

Same thoughts as the above poster.... I have never seen an incorrect flag representing the players named. I would use both the mobile app and the desktop leader board and player stats.

Golf & Soccer... The only two things that recognise countries, where would we be without them :)

It was obviously some clerical error with the App and it seems to have been resolved..... I'm sure millions are joining me in letting out a collective "PHEW"

Yeap, you often see the wrong flag and it is nearly always corrected ASAP.

Last week they kept calling Jamie Donaldson English, they obviously got the message because last night every time he was on they kept calling him Welsh. They even spoke about Welsh rugby!

All Irish people know his wishes, don't know why ur bringing it up, we all hoped it wasn't so but that's how the fella feels, so let him off, still a great golfer but will never be a harrington to the Irish people no matter how many majors he bags, could see gmac been more pissed about it,but its ok PH is on the way back we il have a hero soon enough, I swear there is a big weekend in him yet.

OK, so I'll try this again, I have absolutely no regard for which flag anybody from the north plays under. As I already stated i simply found it unusual that the northern lads were under the Union J while English golfers were under the Georges cross and Scottish golfers under there own flag. In all the golf coverage i have ever witnessed the lads up north were shown under the northern Irish flag. I have never seen a union J beside any golfer before, as i said just taught it was "unusual".....
