Getting well water tested

    Hi All,

In the process of purchasing a house, which has a private well.

    Couple of questions:

How do I go about getting the water tested - do I collect a sample myself and send away, or does someone come onsite to test it? How long does it usually take to get the results.

What else should be looked for in relation to the standard of the water, or equipment - pump etc?

    Any help, guidance appreciated.

    SH

i have used acorn water a few times, they send you the bottles, you fill them and send them back

You are better looking up your local approved laboratory. They will give you 2 sample bottles. You just follow the instructions given.
You must return the samples within 6 hours of taking them to the lab, so it's best in person.

The 6 hour return is usually only for micro testing, don't think it matters as much if it's a chemical test, but assume you would really want to do both.

Places like the public analyst lab or cherry orchard labs are the governmental ones
