    Folks

As above have a very slight fluctuation from centre to a little lower and back again while driving, sometime it settles down and other times it does this.

Thermostat? Do these models have an EGR stat.

I've also read that some suffer from coolant temp sensor issues, can anyone tell me where to locate some on this model

The temp sensor is at the back of the cylinder head to the rear of engine. Fits into t shaped plastic pipe and is probably green but I think the older ones were diff colour. Held in place with metal clip. A little awkward to change. Sensor has an o-ring behind it which needs to be pulled out and also replaced. As far as I know theses sensors do fail but so do the thermostats , but these generally just fail open and result in slightly cooler running. Not an expert but I have replaced both on my a4 which is similar

Fluctuations usually mean it's the sensor so it's a good place to start.

Cheers guys, seems like the temp sensor is also cheap enough so might keep an eye for a week or so and see
