Route 40 Curtailed Yet Again

    What's new?

    http://www.dublinbus.ie/en/News-Centre/General-News/Central-Control-2/

I think tonight is the third night in a row that the 40 has been curtailed, due to thuggish behaviour, i.e. stone throwing. Not only does it happen in Finglas, as has been the case the last couple of nights, but tonight it's the Neilstown area affected.

It is sickening to think that this sort of thuggery is still ongoing, resulting in a bus service being pulled from certain areas, therefore affecting those that rely on it. The 40 seems to be the worst route for all this carry on, as it is such a regular occurance. I don't think there is any other route that has been curtailed so many times of late. I'm sure it was the case with the 78A and old 40 before the merge took place. It's never ending!

On another note, it is a route that is seeing newer buses on it, which apparently are seeing the effects of operating on such a route. The buses, such as EV51-64 (64 being a wedding bus in Conyngham Road) had an easy start on the 68, 69 and 151. Now, these are suffering from vandalism when once they would have been kept in such great condition. Harristown have never worried about allocating newer buses to the route. It's just a shame that newer stock are being put on such a dodgy route. But, that's another issue, and perhaps irrelevant to the thread title.

I noticed a few older AVs back on it last night. The EVs shouldn't be on the route.

A few of them are showing the strain alright, notably EV58 and EV62

Not to mention the daily VGs and the odd GT. . .

I learned last night that a female passenger was struck by glass fragments after some scumbag(s) pelted the bus with stones http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/stones-pelted-at-bus-and-passenger-struck-by-glass-fragments-30104425.html Although she was ok, incidents like this could result in worse injuries. It's ridiculous that these lowlifes get away scot free. No doubt they'll be at it again in Neilstown or Finglas. Though, I'm sure it's happening left, right and centre.
