I've a large copper cylinder . 30kg of lead and 60kg of good quality stainless steel pipe . Thinking of going to the local scrap dealer in sligo . Any ideas what I'd get money wise ? Or would I be wasting my time heading down with only them few bits,? I was thinking they might only be interested in metal by the ton !

What's with all these threads lately? Is everyone suddenly unearthing scrap metal?

Id say they'll take it off you. No idea how much you'll get though and this forum is not the best one for getting serious advice! Not sure theres a forum on boards.ie for that kind of question tbh. Maybe some people in the farming forum might know?

Or you could go find some travellers. They'd buy it off you.

I was surprised what I could round up in the shed earlier

I'd say you'd do all right OP, good prices for scrap these days I think. Particularly stainless steel and copper.

Really ? The winky face at the end of your statement is making me suspicious :)

Steel scrap buying and selling really should be regulated a lot more than it is. Would stop a lot of robberies if it was.

Anyway, besides the point of the thread, just thought I'd put that in.

I'd redirect you to a more approrpaite forum, but I've no idea what forum would be more approriate...

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Thanks artful b .... I cleared out a shed earlier and rather than binning all the metal , and scrap I may as well bring the good stuff down and see what the outcome is

They will weigh it and give you whatever price its worth that day. Doesnt matter how much you have. Ive never come accross an unfriendly scrap dealer. They just weigh it pull out a wad of money and hand you the notes. Some of them even give cheques.

the local scrap dealers here usually give you €30 to €40 flat rate for a copper cylinder. Stainless steel maybe €10 and lead I would not be sure of but worth more than the other 2 I would think.

You'll have to do better than that. You could at least swear to god, tell us if your a man of your word and if you'd tell us a lie or not.

I might try the scrap dealer first and see can I pull an extra 20€ or two out of him ;)

30 - 40 for the cylinder if it has no insulation on it.
50 cent a kilo for the lead.
Stainless steel not so valuable if it flue pipe id imagine euro a foot.
If its high grade SS then your made.

It's high grade 316L stainless steel pipe . From 2 inch up to around 8inch diameter . I wonder how much a kg it could fetch ?

It's also non magnetic stainless . I've read somewhere that makes it a big more valuable ?

80 euro for the cylinder and stainless . Not bad i guess :)
