Well you can apply for a job swap with somebody in Kerry who wants to move to Limerick but you are too late, the deadline this year was March 1st for next year.

Job swap allows you to move temporarily. There is no way to swap jobs permanently unfortunately. You can swap temporarily for a maximum of five years if you can find someone to swap with you and both Boards of Management approve.

If you really really want to live at home then you would have to consider giving up your job and going subbing. I don't think the Kerry panel cleared last year but I can't say for sure.

Good luck, it's a tough one. I know several people in a similar situation to you who all gave up their permanent jobs in the end. There seems to be no other way to move unfortunately unless you would consider applying for principal posts.

Very hard to get any work in Kerry. I'd strongly suggest you keep your job and apply from there.

You might get lucky on Job swap, becoming more and more popular - " Leaving a permanent job is somewhat crazy" = correct.

Hold on to you job and keep applying. There should be a lot of retirements this summer due to new pension rules kicking in.

Most of which will go to the panel.

True but at least the panel should clear and a teacher with experience may then have a shot at a job.

Kerry panel didn't clear last year. At least not in North Kerry anyway.

I know it's a long shot but what if the Job swap worked out ok for 5 years then both parties quit the jobs with the hope of re-applying for the 'same job' in the locations they wanted to be in. Presumably they would be the best candidates for their own job!. Things might have 'cleared up' a little bit more in 5 years time too.

Not fully sure about this but some people were able to "get onto the panel" ?? If your school are due to lose a teacher....you can if they agree take their place on the panel. When you are on the panel you can if both patrons agree switch onto another panel in the location that suits you best. You need a lot of things to line up but it has worked for some. ????????????????
