Please Recommend a Car for My Budget

Looking to get a car and have a budget of 10k.

The only requirements are automatic transmission, not more than 4- 5 years old and that it has 5 doors and max a 1.9 engine and that it wont be very expensive to maintain. It obviously has to be reliable.

I know nothing about cars and I am drowning in the sea of information.

I was also considering is it worth it getting a new car and paying for it in instalments as 10k is all we have for a car at the moment? This will definitely be a stitch along with the mortgage but if it's a better idea we are happy to consider it.

Forgot to mention it has to be a family car. We have one baby, no plans for more children at the moment.

    Many thanks.

Prius? Big enough car, 5 doors and very reliable.

Or (unless you have some physical impediment) then go out and get a full license so that you aren't restricted to automatic cars.

Unfortunately it has to be an automatic. Our car broke down and we have to get a new one pretty quickly.

Will check out the Prius, thank you.

Just checked Prius but they seem to be out of our reach costing over 30k...

Transmission aside can you recommend a good reliable car in our price range? Hubby drives manual as well so it seems we may have to consider the option also.

You don't have to buy a new car, there is plenty of value second hand.

Tbh op to buy any kind of a decent size family car brand new your looking at 25k euro. So if you don't want to borrow that kind of money your better of getting a second hand car. Octavia dsg (what the automatic is called ) could be a good bet 10k would buy you a very decent one and you'd have plenty of space for your child. Is it petrol or diesel your looking for ? Ie what is your annual mileage as if it's low it obviously wouldn't warrant a diesel.

Thanks for the offer. Spoke to hubby but he said No, sorry. Maybe because our own car is 2005. We managed to patch things up with our car temporarily so this will allow us some breathing space and time to increase the budget.

Thanks for the tip. Will look up the Octavia. We don't use it a lot, work is close to where we live so petrol is ok as well as diesel I think.
