Try this for starters. If a company is on this list, then they are (at least) trying. Good HR can be subjective - good employees are normally treated well - those who under-perform will tell you that they are treated badly.

Your question is a bit vague - what are you looking for? Is this for research or a job etc?

Sorry I did leave that a bit vague didnt i! I mean companies that have strong HR departments, I dont mean how well they treat their staff. Its about an internship. Im trying to get one in HR but I have no clear direction as to what industry I want to work in so I want to research companies where I will get a wide range of HR skills, applicable to most industries.

Try any of the larger multi-nationals. They seem better at HR than many others.....

The two are often closely related; despite what a lot of people here think about HR in general. Typically the companies that are "great places to work" are because of the policies & benefits that HR departments put in place.

Of course there are HR depts who solely exist to keep staff in line and are very good at getting people out the door without being sued. I suppose that could be considered "best practice" as they'll have policies and procedures a mile long, but that doesn't sound like something to aim for.

I don't work in HR by the way, but do work for a company with a good focus on people.
