Say the grass is a bit patchy what with the time of year and the kids and dogs. Can this affect deposit. A few bald patches like? Lawn is mostly grassy.

If it is patchy in so far as your children and dogs have caused damage to it then I see no reason why you wouldnt be expected to put that right.

Not damage just grass needs a week to grow in a few patches really.

Thats probably fair enough then, given that its March. If it needed to be reseeded or whatever then it would be a different story.

Maybe go out to Woodies or whatever and grab a box of lawn seed and throw some down? Should cost about a tenner.

Does the landlord know you have a dog?
