Have a 04 Passat, back passenger floor is soaking wet (small puddle at this stage).

Had it before last year & when serviced was told a filter was clogged up with leaves etc causing the water to come down the pipe that seems to open into the back passenger side. Car does little mileage so ids it possible for it the problem to re-occur this quickly? Or is there anything else needs checking?

That model is fairly well known for that problem alright - though usually it's under the front passenger seat as far as I recall (where sensitive electronic bits live!)

I wouldn't think it unusual to see it happen again after a year and I'd have the same thing checked before looking any deeper.. but I'd do it fast given the above mentioned dislike the electronic bits have to getting wet.

Cheers. I noticed the back passenger door wont open & the radio going a bit funny - possibly connected so

Yep sounds that way.. the comfort control module is under there and controls stuff like that.

    More on Google or here

It happened to me when we had a passat - back footwell behind the drivers seat. We realised it was because we parked under a tree which shed its cherry blossom - the blossom was caught under the bonnet at the windscreen ( I think - I'm no expert through :o)

Have a search for "vw plenum chamber drain" and all should be revealed!

Basically the drains under the windscreen get blocked with gunk and water overflows into the cabin.

If you shine a flashlight in around the battery area, you might see the water

    Had this too.
Theres a little drain hole to the left of the battery just prod it with a screwdriver.
Thats the easy bit now to dry all the insulation foam and carpet.
