I think there's about 15/16 different routes that they can take you on in Finglas, including Santry, Ballymun, Glasnevin or just locally around Finglas.

I found this site helpful when preparing for my test.

Try this one too. Video and written directions for Finglas.

I found this site helpful when preparing for my test.

The Finglas test route does not include Santry and, it only includes a small part of Glasnevin. Ballymun Rd is as far east as the test routes go. It starts up where where IKEA is & runs all the way down to where Ballymun Rd meets Griffith Avenue. It does not go as far as Mobhi Rd, Glasnevin village or the area around the Botanic Gardens. Anywhere in between Ballymun Rd to the east the N2/Derry Rd to the west, is fair game. The dual carriage way N2/Derry Rd, from the Charlestown SC down to Old Finglas Rd is also part of the test route.

The housing estates either side of Glasnevin Ave/R103 are the most popular places to take people on tests. But they can take you as far north as the Charlestown Shopping Centre, or over to IKEA, or on the N2 itself to see how you handle heavy traffic, wider roads with more lanes, and/or a dual carriage way.

Finglas West did not used to be a part of the test route. It is now, due to congestion on the traditional routes. There are now so many learners practicing driving, and instructors giving lessons on the traditional test routes, that it has been getting in the way of testers doing tests. So they have made the test area a bit bigger.

If you leave Finglas Village and drive towards the N2, you'll be in Finglas West after you go over the bridge over the N2. Drive up Mellows Rd, past the Garda station and there are more housing estates to the left and right of the main road. Testers now take people there on their tests too.

ProudDub, test routes can go along Santry avenue into Shanard etc. I would consider that part of Santry. They can also get right down into Glasnevin too. The section of the N2 that gets most used is down as far as Violet Hill.
