After searching high and low for new laptop. I've narrowed it down to the following laptops below. I will be used browsing, watching movies, some gaming and use of the full office suite. I can't really find any info on battery life, but with specs like below, I doubt, they would not be great anyways!

    Cheers

Broadly similar except the HP has a 4th Generation i5, vs the 3rd gen in the Samsung. And a touchscreen, if that's your thing.

The HP has a 4-cell battery Vs 3 on the Samsung which should spell longer battery life. However the Samsung can draw either 40 or 60w depending on the system. I'd imagine a 3 cel battery drawing 60w wouldn't last very long.
    The HP is 65w

    The HP by FAR,

It has a 4th gen CPU, the GPUs are very similar but the HP is a lot cheaper. Don't worry about the smaller Hard Drive, easily upgradable (plus 750 GB is still rather large)

As mentioned above the HP has a 4 cell over sammies 3 cell.

The HP has a touch screen, which can be a good or a bad thing depending on your view. but out of those two , i'd definitely go with the HP.

Looking at physical size and weight , the HP is a good bit heavier and thicker than the samsung, so keep that in mind. if you are going to be bring it around with you all the time, it could be an issue.

If you are just leaving it in the house than its a non issue.

    HP

    Dimensions (W x D x H)
    38.56 x 25.8 x 2.47 cm (0.97 x 15.18 x 10.16 in)
    (Dimensions vary by configuration)
    Weight
    2.5 kg (5.67 lb)
    (Weight varies by configuration)

    Samsung
    Dimension
    376 x 248 x 22.9mm (14.8" x 9.76" x 0.9")
    Weight
    2.08kg (4.59lbs)

    Thanks everyone,

I think the touchscreen is extremely gimmicky, but it's getting difficult to a find a laptop without it these days. I had a look at HP laptop earlier today, it was very heavy and it will be used for college everyday. I may have to shop around for something with similar specs.

If anyone has some suggestions let me know, I have a budget of 800 quid!
