Just wondering if anyone would have advice on what colleges to look at, especially in Dublin where you can do courses not on the cao. For example my friend found a course in journalism in Rathmines which she's in her final year in and loves it. Want to know what other colleges out there I may be missing. Places like ITs, VEC related, or university courses that you apply directly for. Not very experienced in this so looking to get all the help I can figuring it out! Thanks in advance for any input anyone who has experience searching or who may have found their dream course in some obscure place!

A few different things, I'm keeping my options open! Social, health, media, culinary. First choice on cao is a health related course in DCU.

Thanks that's actually a good website hadn't seen it before now. Just found out you can search plc course on qualifax which I didn't realise included the kind of colleges I'm after. Thanks for your help =)

Are you looking to do a Degree or a FETAC? You wouldn't get a grant for a PLC (FETAC) but you can look up the payments online e.g. Back to Education Allowance etc.
If you're looking to get into a Degree course, not through the CAO you will either have to have a FETAC in a particular course (don't think it has to relate exactly to the degree your applying for but check that up) or you will need to be over 23 years and apply as a Mature Student.
All the info on grants etc. is available at www.susi.ie

    Hope this helps.

Are you sure you can't get a grant for some of the plc courses listed on qualifax? My friend who is doing journalism in rathmines college got the grant. Although she did do another fetac course before that..

You may be able to, I'm not too sure as I have never done a PLC but I was under the impression that you wouldn't nessiserily get a grant per say, there are however student assistant funds etc. Maybe get onto the courses you're thinking of doing and ask them.
Best of luck with your studies :)
