Do airlines allow for extra check-in baggage weight because of e.g. year long visas to stay in Australia ?

Some airlines have circa 20kg check in weight whilst others are 30kg. If no such facility is available it'd be worst paying extra to fly with the latter airline.

20kg would just not be enough if moving out there for the year, any advice ?

    thanks

    There is no such facility.

23kg plus hand luggage is plenty. Countless people have managed it.

Go with the airline that offers 30kg if you must.

A lot of Airlines allow excess baggage or double the allowance on presentation of an Permanent Migration visa that has yet to be validated.

But they wont give you anything if its a holiday visa.

Just get to the check in desk extra early before they really care about that sort of thing, before they are busy and pi$$ed off dealing with people with overweight bags.

Where or how do I find out more about double baggage allowance? Is it a case of contacting the airlines prior to booking a ticket?

    Look forward to your reply.
