Go and see the CWO first thing in the morning, and explain your circumstances. At the same time, go down to the Council offices and tell them you're homeless. Either the CWO or the council might be able to place you in a hostel so that you can claim.

If there are any homeless services in the area you are staying in they should be able to advise you on this, try citizens information too, either the website or go into an office if there is one locally tomorrow.

That's why you need to declare yourself as homeless. No address, no dole.

And at some stage, you'd like your own place -right?

Go to one of the services I said, just say you are between places, staying with friends/ family but have no access to a postal address, if you are in Dublin Focus Ireland can advise you on your entitlements.

It's going to be hard enough to declare homeless when you are not. You have somewhere to stay. That will be questioned and you will have to prove where you have lived up to now. You finished a years work course what address did you use for that. Everyone falls on hard times. Just come clean and it will be easier. I can't see how someone will lose their benefits by you just staying there short term.

You don't have to be actually lying in a doorway to be homeless. If you are going from sofa to sofa and you have no money then you are homeless OK?
You have to go to the health centre tomorrow and ask to see someone in the CWO dept.
If the CWO has moved already to the SW office then go there.
They will help you. Probably a B&B. The B&B address will do for the dole. You can get SWA while your waiting on the dole. Get on the local authority housing list and then you can look for a v small flat and get rent supplement.
