Make Up Counters

I am currently saving up to do a big makeup spending spree, and I've always preferred sitting down with a makeup artist/qualified professional who will asses my skin, chat with me about my look, and suggest products based on this. However, I'd like to be able to sit with am impartial person who could suggest products from a range of Brands, say take me into BT or House of Fraser and choose products from various counters. I'd hate to think I'd missed a great product because I only went to the MAC counter etc.

    Do these people/services exist?

EDIT: Sorry mods can you move to Beauty please?

Some of the large department stores have personal shopping services that work for the store as apposed to specific brands so they should be impartial. I'm not sure if they only deal with clothes or if they have knowledge of cosmetics too. No harm calling to find out.

Your best bet tho is probably to research the type of products you are looking for online before you go shopping. You can then have the sales people try it on you to see if it works well.

Unfortunately tho most of the sales people at the make up counters will only recommend products from the brand they work for.

I agree that doing research online is the best way. I never buy anything these days without reading reviews online! You could post up what you're looking for and people could post recommendations? Just a thought!

youtube makeup reviews have always helped me. Then I go to counter and ask for testers.
