Hi Amanda we've been twice, March/April both times i think sep is there wet season but you'll still have most of the day hot and dry, its cheap as chips... You can spend a lot or as little as you want, its full of Aussies which we found to be over bearing after awhile, what part of Bali is the hotel? We paid €725 for flights €25 a night for hotel with breakfast.... Hope this helps

I wouldn't recommend the Hard Rock hotel, Bali is a beautiful Island with a massive number of hotels so it will be easy to find someplace more idillic than the Hard Rock.

My issue with the Hard Rock is that its associated with the nightclub, so its noisy until the club closes, its also right on the corner of Kuta beach, so its also noisy.

The island is cheap, bottled beer in a bar will cost you about US$2

Theres even a couple of Irish bars there, although only one is owned by a Boards member :)

A night club is a great place to visit, but do you really want to listen to it for a week? Almost as bad as getting a room by a swimming pool where they start playing volleyball at 9am.... not good for hangovers :)
For the sort of money that you are talking about, you can rent an awesome villa with your own pool etc, this will give you the unique experience that Bali has to offer.

Maybe your right, can you suggest anywhere? Ive only ever been to Gran canaria, well actually im just back so looking at booking the next break asap and Bali seems nice and inexpensive. But i want 5 star. I want to stay somewhere spectacular! Might sound silly. I dont mind having to spend 1200 quid to stay somewhere amazing

Amanda kuta beach isn't the best, can be pretty dirty really, have a look at seminyak area its just above kuta better hotels nicer beach and only a taxi ride to kuta for yr nights out plus a lot less traffic.

Also Amanda have a look at gili Islands for a few days if you can, well worth the trip over to them.

€2,400 is a lot of money for two weeks in a hotel, you can find a paradise for that, but you could aim a little bit lower and use the money for the more expensive fun things to do in Bali, look at spa's, massages, beach clubs, gilli islands, scuba diving lessons.

Look at a site like booking.com and look at Legian or Seminyak areas, you can get some great hotels for €70-100 per night.

Please bear in mind that some places in Bali sell badly made homemade booze, this has killed or severely injured people in the past, so stick to beer or make sure you are happy with the place selling the booze, do not get it from street sellers or seedy bars.

I've been here a week now and if I'm honest, Kuta is a kip. Grand for a few days of shopping and some trips around Bali but I would highly recommend not going there for the full two weeks. The water on Kuta beach is the dirtiest place I've ever been, every step I made in the water I felt plastic bags and rubbish under my feet and wrapping around my legs. I'm really not exaturating when I say every step.

We headed over to Gili Trawangan on Sunday and even after been to a good few places in Asia, this is the nicest place I've ever been. No cars or motorbikes, if you wanna get somewhere you've to walk, cycle or get a horse and cart. You could walk around the island in about an hour. The partying is also better here, as is the beaches and sea. Super cheap too. We've been diving the last few days and have seen turtles, sharks and octupi. I'd really recommend doing a bit of diving when you're here. Don't go all the way to Asia and spend the whole time in what I'd say is Aussie Magaloof/Playa del Ingales.

The Gilis are beautiful, I'm trying to think of a way so that we don't have to leave!

Its a well known fact that Kuta is the Aussie Magaluf.
