    Stage 6: Monday 17th, Bucchianico - Porto Sant'Elpidio 189km

The mountains are finished, and it's now the last chance for the sprinters to shine. As with the previous flat stages, the peloton enter the finishing town and tackle a few laps of a circuit. In this case, the riders will cross the finishing line in Porto Sant'Elpidio after 161.5km on the bike. And they will then complete a 13.8km circuit twice. One of the maps below shows the finishing circuit. It's flat, but has a good few roundabouts and tight corners, but the last 1.5km is straight. Expect a hard-fought, hectic big bunch sprint. Neither Cav nor Kittel have performed that well in the previous sprint finishes, and they will really be gunning for the win. But there are a plethora of other sprinters that have the ability to take the glory. Here's hoping for a good sprint from Sam Bennett on St. Patrick's Day :)

    Cav gets his stage win.

I didn't get to see it but from reading live text, it seemed to be relatively easy for Cav as Greipel was caught up in a crash, and Kittel was dropped. I think Sam Bennett was in the same group as Kittel. Cav's team mates Petacchi and Renshaw were second and ninth respectively, which shows how dominant the OPQS train were.

Cav had it from miles out. And the fact that Petacchi had time to freewheel, celebrate, and then go again to get the placing... very dominant.

In the final lead out, a Lampre guy just pops out of 3rd or 4th wheel leaving Cav's competition with a number of lengths to close just as he is starting his sprint.

Mad how much time Kittel lost, that wasn't a significant climb at all. Partly down to the climb yesterday I suppose. That's a fair weakness of his then

Cav certainly had the luck today. Sam actually punctured out of the bunch in the final lap. Sagan crashed out on the last corner, Greipel was also held up and had to work hard to even get close to him. Meanwhile Cav had 3 team-mates in a group of about 10 riders with 500m to go. Easy peasy.
