Don't tell the bride (Irish version): Love it!

4 Weddings: Love the US one......but I'm not as much a fan of the English one

Say Yes to the dress!: I love Randy!

I found the gown: Hmmmm, cheap rip of of Say Yes to the Dress.....but the gowns are great - and the prices even better!!

Say Yes to the Dress Atlanta: Monty and Lori are just great. Love when they "Jack the brides up"!!!

Bridezillas: The original series was brilliant but I think it has gone downhill and overly dramatic and the brides are waaay over the top.

I'm not to keen on Say Yes to the Dress Bridesmaids for some reason.

What's your favourite wedding TV show?

I liked the UK Don't Tell The Bride (there wasn't an Irish one when I was planning my wedding) but it's gone all crappy lately. The first series was good but now it seems like they're all going completely mental because it's going to be on TV. I wonder how many of them would do their weddings that way if the TV show wasn't involved.

Did anyone see the one where the groom booked Vegas but because it was so expensive he couldn't pay for the bride's brother and his own sister to go? And the bride was horrified when she found out, she flew over to vegas and was about to call the whole thing off, and the producers had to basically throw out the rule book and let them see each other so they could try and sort it out. Then went ahead in the end but it was seriously touch and go.

    Omg that one was crazy.

That was the best series...and much different from the Irish one - where it's obviously there is a lot of tv production company involvmenent IMO.

That was a mad one alright!
How could the groom get it so wrong???

I remember she was furious at him in fairness she wasn't too wrong to be. Brave woman to go ahead with it

Dying to see that Vegas episode. I've never been able to find it online though.

There's a great one on TLC, Something Borrowed, Something New. Basically the bride chooses between a new dress and her mother's dress, but the mother's dress is changed to suit the bride. Sometimes the revamped mother's dress is worse than it was originally.

It's on weekday afternoons. I particularly like it when the mother's dress is hideous and the bride still picks it out of guilt.

Forgot about this one!!! I love it!

It's great when the mothers dress is made of some horrendous 1970's fabric like "crimpeovylene" or the like!!!

But there was a few nice ones - particularly a granny's dress from the 1930's

I know!! It was basically like he went to vegas on the piss and then halfway through the holiday remembered "oh sh!te, I'm supposed to be planning my wedding!!!"

In fairness, she seemed very highly strung in the first place, like she wanted to control every aspect of the day. I can never understand how people like that volunteer to go on that show in the first place. I'd be very surprised if she hadn't told the husband numerous times what her dream wedding would be like, so he either never listened to her or thought "I'm in control and I'm doing whatever I want."

saw that one, it was very sad seeing just 4 or 6 of them at their wedding with her in a big gown. Honestly, I think anyone getting married elope-style wouldn't organise what looks like a micro-version of a standard wedding.

I prefer the UK version of "Don't tell the bride" but there were a few good Irish episodes as well. Franc was good for first few episodes but I found the show too short to give any detailed enough view of his plans.
Don't like "4 Weddings", it's mainly a bit of bitching between girls about why they don't like this or that in someone else's wedding. They can be quite nasty in their comments.

Have you seen the US version of 4 weddings? The uk brides pale in comparison to the US ones in terms of bitchiness.

I really liked the first series of bridezillas. It was focussed more on "new York/manhattan" type brides...."power bridezillas" if you will.
Normal women who have just gone crazy on wedding fever.

But since then it has veered more to the screechy "redneck" type of bridezillas.
Women who are crazy all the time not just because of wedding fever.

Some of the dresses and weddings featured in the first bridezillas were beautiful.

I always think it's hilarious in the US wedding shows when the guests give out about having to pay for their own drinks at the bar. I know it's the norm in the US for it to be open bar, but imagine if that was the case here! The bride and groom would probably have to take out a mortgage to pay the tab at the end of the night!

I loveed the bride who was a buyer for H&M, she was stunning - Karen: http://www.wetv.com/shows/bridezillas/episodes/season-1/karen-and-tricia

And there was a very classy bride called Amy who was a twin. She chose amazing settings for her table - the plate chargers were made of mirrored glass as far as I remember! Stunning. http://www.wetv.com/shows/bridezillas/episodes/season-1/miho-and-amy

I didn't know Karen was a buyer for H&M! Makes sense now..... Her dress was amazing, but she was very particular about it with the designer.

Noooooooooo! Amy did NOT have the mirrors on her tables (under the flowers). Her wedding planner showed it to her but her (very classy!!) mother and her did not like it all.....so the wedding planner quickly backtracked: oh yes I knew you would not like that but I was just showing you as an option of what you would not like :D (or something like that!!!!)

I think she was on the episode with Miho!!!! Sooooooooo odd!!!!!! Wouldn't even let the groom kiss her for the photographs!!!!!

Miho was very bizarre! What country did she travel from to marry her US groom?

Was it a cultural thing to not do the public kiss??

Oh yes I remember now Amy not going for the mirror on table!!! She was quite conservative if I remember rightly.

I'm watching Four Weddings, there seems to a marathon on Sky Living today..

The biggest observation I've made is that British Weddings are so different to Irish.. lots of changes of venue throughout their day and buffet style meals..

Cricket clubs and rugby clubs seem to be quite popular venues.

    Interesting.

I'm not too keen on the voiceover guy of the British one. He is very disparaging.

There's one episode where one of the brides is from Donegal (I think) and all the British brides were all stunned that the reception went on so late. They bailed at about 10:30 or something. Wimps! :P
