    Hello runners,

I've been training now for Paris Marathon for approx 16 weeks.
It's the most I've ever trained for a marathon and feeling good.
My previous two marathons were 2012 (3:31) and 2013 (3:28)
Both of these were maybe 20-25mpw training. 1 midweek run and long weekend. There was zero speed or tempo work. Deffo suffered from lack of MPW.

So training for Paris I've put in closer to 40MPW with some good tempos and good Long Runs. I know you're meant to take slow Long Runs put wanted to run at MP to see if I was capable and did 20miles averaging 7:08 per mile and then did a slower 23 on Friday with time picking up and ran last 5 miles averaging 7:00 per mile.

Since the training I have beaten my 10km best within a tempo run. Now (38:40) could deffo knock more off it.

People say if you can run 1:25/1:27 in HM that you're capable of sub 3 and 3:04 marathon.

So my question is with 3 weekends to actual race day (April 6th)

    Do I...

1). Run Half Marathon this weekend and aim for a 1:25/1:27 time that I think I'm capable of.

2). Run another 20miler hard and see can I do in 7min miles

3). Run a 20milera but do it at a slow pace?

Then last 2 weeks to marathon taper but do some good tempos ahead of MP

To break 3:10 you need to average 7:14 per mile.

To break 3:05 you need to average 7:03 per mile.

My gut says go for sub 3:10 this time but I'm curious to start out race doing 7min miles and seeing how I get on?
    Is that madness?

Here are my times on Garmin anyway.

My vo2max is approx 56 also.

    Thanks for the advice!
