Dodge Caliber - headlight rewiring

Have a friend with one of these and what turns out to be an expensive, and common, headlight issue. To cut a very long diagnosis story short - theres a faulty control unit which won't allow the dipped beam on the driver side to operate. Full beams / fogs work on both sides.

The part in question is over 1k to replace, and he's been told it will require a full day fitting + coding.

I was thinking it might be possible to tap into the 12v on the passenger side light, and feed it into the drivers side. Any potential issues here anyone can think of?

Using some sort of relay, can't hurt to try.

I would take it with a relay from other working sidelight/parking light feed, if possible so that it would stay working if the other one also fails.
