Opening race in the book but who was the Boards.ie driver of the day? Rosberg made a great start and didn't put a foot wrong, Ricciardo was solid throughout before being DQ'ed, Kevin Magnusson was very impressive for a rookie. Bottas was combative and overtook well but his slide into the wall cost him dearly. Max Chilton once again continued his streak of consecutive finishes....

Bottas for me, mistake aside he was the 2nd quickest driver today.

I couldn't argue with anyone who would vote for Rosberg, Ricciardo, Magnussen or Chilton

Magnussen for me...for a rookie to jump into F1 when even the veterans are having trouble understanding their cars & do what he done today is pretty damn impressive. Bottas was immensely impressive too, shame about him clipping the wall.

Magnussen. His first F1 race and he got a deserving place on the podium.

Bottas also did very well to finish where he did despite losing a tyre during the race.

Very tough call. Magnussen was impressive and didn't put a foot wrong, Bottas was seriously quick...but no one has mentioned Hulkenberg. He didn't finish well but drove very well all afternoon, much higher than that car should be.

Kevin Magnussen drove an unreal race. He looks very quick and was on it all weekend.

Magnussen close second, impressive display from a rookie; although Button also drove a brilliant race, from 10th to 4th (3rd), closing on his team mate as well, but nobody seems to have notices.

Also Ricciardo is getting ignored because he drives a Red Bull...but I feel he extracted all there was to from it (disqualification aside).

However Bottas was feisty and unrelenting, had to fight quite a bit to get where he finished and probably deserved a podium - which was not out of the question, without the mistake.

Special mention for Felipe Massa's bad luck: first time in a million years he starts with a competitive car and no "Michael/Kimi/Fernando is faster than you" messages in the wait...and Kobayashi's brakes decided to fail exactly when he was in the way.

Kevin Magnussen for a rookie to be on the podium in his first race is a fantastic achievement. Bottas drove very well, without the contact with the wall or the gearbox penalty, he would have definitely been on the podium.

I thought Ricciardo did very well (DQ aside), a lot of pressure on him for his debut in a big team, in front of his home fans, being powered by a power unit that seems a long way behind it's competitors.

Bottas. Considering the penalty and the puncture, 5th was a great result. He drove the arse out of that sexy Williams.:p

I'm surprised Rosberg has only one vote against Magnussen's 20 votes thus far. No wait a minute, I also voted for Magnussen! A respectable professional drive from a rookie.

Magnussen for me. Great performance in his first F1 race,

Other mentions to Bottas and Kyvat

Had to vote for Bottas really.

There were other fine drives, Rosberg and Ricciardo (apart from the DSQ) both had very solid drives, and Magnussen did a great job for a rookie, but really they settled into place at the start and pretty much stayed there.

Bottas had to push and fight for his place, the others might have been capable of doing that too, but Bottas was the one who demonstrated it the most.

The Driver of the day is hands down Kevin Magnussen, is first ever F1 GP and he had some drive!
Both McLarens done well, they seem to have the car in the right place for by last year and they have some good updates for the next race!

Its going to be a great season.
