Graduation portrait photography

Unless there are some horrible unforeseen circumstances, I will graduate from University in the UK during the summer. Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend the ceremony due to it clashing with another event, so I will miss out on the pomp and also won't get the photo of me dressed in a ridiculous gown clutching the degree certificate!

I have done a search for graduation portrait photographers in Dublin, but have only come back with photographers who are onsite at ceremonies.

I know the best thing to do is get in touch directly with a photographer, but just looking for some suggestions first. I doubt it's done very often, so I'm sure I'd have to hire a gown out etc, but wondering if anybody knows of any studio that would provide this service.

    Thanks.

Lafayette (or something like that, maybe spelling is off), they do the shoots in colleges. Well they did when I graduated back in 2009 so try them!

I've had a few clients who were looking for the exact same as you OP. I'm not sure where they got their gowns, as they just turned up with them themselves, but this kind of shoot is more common than you think. A lot of folks aren't satisfied with the production line quality of the on-site photography at these events.

Drop me a PM if you want to discuss it more.

Thanks a million for the replies.

It will be the end of the summer before I get around to it, but if I can find out where to borrow a gown I'll get in touch. I'd definitely prefer a portrait done in a studio than a rushed one on campus.
