I'd say if we had the same availability to guns us they do in the US here we would have a far worse gun death rate. Some amount of nutters out there im afraid.

I always wondered where East Dublin was.
Parts of Clondalkin were renamed as Lucan. Knowing reporters accuracy in these type of reports, it could have happened phuking anywhere.

What about the 2 women in Tallaght earlier? Were they hardened gangsters/dealers? At the moment you have no idea of the circumstances in this case.

Hate that thinking. The day people stop caring about someone getting shot is the day society has lost. Even if it is criminals shooting criminals it is a bad thing for everyone. Think about all the decent people in those parts of the city who live in fear of these scumbags - you think a shooting on the doorstep doesn't reinforce that? You think normalising it doesn't increase the chance that an "innocent" life will be lost in some pointless tit for tat shooting? Every one of these shootings is something we should care about.

Is there anyone in West Dublin who hasn't been shot recently?

87 year old Margie Quirke hasn't been shot yet. Goes to Mass every morning and is a real Dublin character. Only a matter of time though.

Only if the Gardai are following a definite line of enquiry or if the victim was well known to them.

What's with the change to AH being the breaking news channel?

Standards have really dropped. We'll have real time reports on each St Patrick's Day parade fom roving reporters country wide now I presume.

Many millions are spent representing out and out scum in the courts and additional millions are spent protecting these scum on the streets, if limited "you get what is coming to you because you are a scummer" coverage was provided more innocent people could be protected from people robbing their houses.

New report in the Independent that pensioner Margie Quirke was just shot by three masked men. Apparently it was a case of mistaken identity, they were looking for 38 year old Rory O'Callaghan, the leader of rival drug smuggling ring.
