He has lots of talent and some near-misses in Majors. But will Dustin Johnson ever win a major championship?

It's impossible to predict the future but he should get into contention at some stage in the future, will be up to him then to take his chance

Ya exactly, he's good enough to get himself into contention but he's not good enough that you think there's no possible way he won't win a major. He'll get his chance though and then he'll need the nerve/luck/bottle to see it through

There are people who question his bottle but that is to ignore the 2010 PGA, when he went round in the fewest shots and only realised after that he had committed an offence.

What happens off course often affects what happens on course and he's fairly settled now with your wan Gretzsky so yes, I think he will win one, this year or next

I don't think he had golf on his mind for a while.

This year Harmon challenged him to take the game on serious. Give it a real go. You'll see a big big year this year.
He was unbelievably close in The Open - that is very impressive for a guy who was considered a long ball merchant.
Also - could he have played much of that type of golf before ?

I'm sure he will win one.

Yes, he was silly/unlucky to loose the pga contested in the US and open so think his time will come.

Think the thread title should be changed to "How many majors will Dustin Johnson win?"

Think the title should be "Would you prefer to have a major or this?"
She's Wayne Gretzkys daughter, some genes ( and Jeans ;) )

That would be premature - unless and until he proves himself by winning one the question remains will he ever make the break-through.

I posted this poll because I remembered the number of top-class players with only one major to their name: Kite, Pavin, Love and Toms to name but four. At times in their careers the same question was applicable.

Then you think about regular money-winners like Stricker, Garcia, Stenson, Westwood and Donald who haven't (yet) hit the jackpot. Maybe they never will (like Montgomerie before them).

Or you ask yourself "Whatever happened to Chad Campbell?" He was tipped for great things a decade ago. So too, more recently, was Nick Watney.

Johnson is such a spectacular player that he's always worth watching. But can he close the deal in the final round of a Major? It's less a matter of talent than mental toughness.

It was just another way for me saying that I think he will win several. I'm with Rikand in thinking 3+. Time will tell... sure we can all meet up here in 15 years for the "told ya so's" :D
