    Does anyone know the name of the emergency photo I.D. you can get from the guards to use in place of a passport (if you lose your passport just before travelling)?

    There is none. You might be thinking of an ML10 form but that can't be used for travelling. Quickest form of ID is same day passport. Bring completed forms to the passport early in the morning and chance it. See the passport thread in the travel forum.
