Does anybody report job listings to websites?

By far and away the worst thing about job hunting these days is the absolute state of the websites that list openings. Most of them are full of work-from-home/commission based scams and even the legitimate jobs are intentionally misrepresented in order to increase exposure (e.g. multiple locations are provided despite the job only being available in one of them). Loads of jobs are listed under "no experience required" yet then explicitly state they want 6+ years professional experience in the description, and so on.

I've tried reporting some of them to the admins but they don't get removed. Similarly you have positions listed months ago that are no longer available but remain advertised - probably because it's cheap exposure for the company involved.

It seems these sites are not moderated whatsoever and actually makes me wonder if launching a properly managed website is a viable business in itself.

I applied for a job from a recruiter this week which I had experience and qualification for. I got a snotty email back saying they had no vacancies in the particular job I applied for , this despite the exact title being advertised on a number of sites. Why advertise if you don't have a position? I just don't get it.

Often wondered the same thing. A lot of sites seem to have a lot of duplicates too, same job different agency.

The amount of jobs I apply for, jobs I am qualified to do and get no reply at all from the people. It's as if they already have the jobs taken and are just advertising them because they have to. Ive lost my marbles already and am going to to give job hunting on line a break. I think just calling into places old fashioned style is the best thing to do. Better to meet people face to face. So before I go completely mad thats what I'm going to do. Ahhhhhh!!!!

What I see is a lot of positions advertised long after the role has been filled and it is some what annoying to apply for such positions and be told they are not available. Not only would it be good that websites manage postings, but recruitment companies tidy up after themselves to save job hunters the hassle.

I worked as a recruitment consultant for a bit years ago and it may be the case that the recruiter leaves them up just to generate a pool of CV's for any potential future jobs that are similar. If they periodically do get jobs like the one advertised they can then go and quick pick from the most recent CV's they have in to see if they have anyone 'in stock' so to speak.

This kind of tactic was one of the things that made me stop being a recruitment consultant.

Was on to him he tells me he's looking for roofers but I feel from taking to him there is something amiss. What was your experience?

Tactics like that made me ignore a lot of the training I was given when I started. :) Happily, there's much better training in place now for new people.
I get along much better by having a decent network of candidates that I have spoken to recently than some random bunch of CV's.

Ads can sometimes stay on aggregate websites for an unbelieveable amount of time even though I have removed it from my side of things.
(I post my advert on about 3-4 different sites, depending on the job. They'll all have the same job number so the interested party can tell it's the same job.)
Recently, someone phoned me about a job I posted last July! It had just been updated on one of the aggregate sites. The job was WELL gone! It was awful, I didn't know what to say to him. (I reported it to the site who fixed it)

Some of my adverts have been up for quite a long time - some clients are always looking for certain types of hires so I could always talk to applicants. For some clients, they have the same job open all the time - just different teams.

I don't agree with leaving ads up for closed roles. There's no point to irritating job-seekers for the sake of pooling CV's. Odds are, anyway, that the "pooled CV" will be off the market by the time you get around to calling them.
