My PC has windows7 enterprise and need to install Windows7 professional now. I got an OEM DVD to install it.

It's getting a blank screen. I have tried to change the registry key, used windows down grader but not avail.

    Any suggestion is appreciated.

What do you mean "It's getting a blank screen"

Why not just do a fresh install ? If you have the space on the hard disk try to shrink it to leave at least 40GB for the new install.

Boot from the Pro DVD and install to the new partition. Once installed do an easy transfer to move your accounts and document over then format the old install partition and extend the new install partition using disk management. BCDEDIT will remove the old boot option leaving a clean boot.

The obvious question though is why do you want to downgrade from Enterprise to Professional ?

    Thanks for the replies.

I did not explain in detail but the situation was,

My PC was getting "not genuine Windows" error message.

So I bought OEM Window 7 Professional DVD with a key to install.

But with the DVD, it did not start installation but the screen went "blank".

Luckily I sorted it out with the advice from Microsoft forum.

Basically, the OEM DVD did not work and had to get a retail version of Windows 7 instead.

    Many thanks & Happy St.Patricks day~:)
