While Mr Haughey may be a divisive character in political terms, especially with the political demographic of his native town, his contribution to education should not be forgotten. Locally he funded an IT wing of his former school Colaiste Rís, one friend has credited this facility with giving him the lucritive career he has now. Many students have benefited from his donations to the University of Ulster also. I think his contribution should be recognised moreso after his death in Norfolk last night!

He wasn't too well liked by his workers in Norbrook.
Stingy and pernickity in the extreme. Wages and conditions very poor too .
