I've decided to start recording all my stats per round in an effort to identify areas for practice - I know there are a number of websites that do this but just wondering if anyone can give any recommendations and costs etc?

If you have an android phone, you can use golfshot - its free and a lot of people on here use it. I used it myself for about a year till i changed phones and couldn't get it anymore

The "PGA Tour Caddie" app is available on iOS for free. It's from the makers of golfshot afaik.

It's a class app. Has every course in Ireland mapped and has 3D flyovers of every hole. (Portumna has gotten a good viewing ;) )
There are loads of extra features on it too.

It also records stats just like golfshot.

I'm on windows phone. Haven't found a good free app yet :)

Thanks for the replies - not specifically after an app as such as there's no way I would record each shot during a round(partners would kill me!) - more after a site I can enter my stats into post-round and then hopefully spits out some good stats or even recommends problem areas

I wouldn't dream of using it during the round.
I enter them in once I'm in the car after the round usually or when I get home.

It gives you all the stats you could expect. You can view them on the app itself or online.

Might have found a decent one for any windows phone people.

    shotly

looks pretty decent at the moment, though the info it has for Athlone is a little bit outdated :)

Cool - how does it work entering stats afterwards as it looks as though you're supposed to click each shot while you're playing in that it logs where you are hitting from using GPS?

Well, i suppose if you want to track distances you are hitting the ball aswell, maybe best to save doing that for a casual round.

i was always only really interested in FIR and GIR, number of putts and scrambling percentages, which you could get by inputting scores at the end of the round

Another vote here for the Tour Caddie app. Like PARlance said, it's very easy to enter your stats after your round. No one should be doing so during a round. You don't have to click each shot BigChap.. just enter in your score, putts, fairways hit/missed and the club you tee of with if you want. It's very quick and simple and a full round can be entered in 2-3min.

Just curious.. to the people keeping track of stats ... what way do you deal with putts slightly off the green. I sometimes find stats get skewed when you are putting from the fringe a few inches off the green and don't count it as a putt. I normally count a stoke as a putt if it's up to 2 foot from the green. But then that skews your GIR stats! What do ya'll do?

I've heard measuring putts per GIR is effective but haven't done this myself. Any idea if Tour Caddie does this?

oobgolf.com seems to be getting decent reviews on golfwrx

Yeah Tour Caddie has putting stats for putts per hole and putts per GIR. Ahh so maybe I should just be concentrating on the putts per GIR and enter strokes as putts only when on the green.

If you want to take it to the next level this is the way to go GAMEGOLF

There was a thread on here before - looks really impressive Boardie Review

I actually forgot about oobgolf. I used to use it all the time myself a couple of years ago.

It's good and at least its website based which is what you wanted in the first place :D

I use this free golf app by Nike:

    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/nike-golf-360/id527331403?mt=8

I find it pretty good and minimal infomercial stuff
