Michael Moynihan TD of Fianna Fail is up to a bit of parliamentary mischief.
" I intend to propose an amendment to the ESB Electronic Communications Networks Bill 2013, which would ensure that speeds promised and advertised by providers are reflected in reality.”

As this Bill is all but passed, and this kind of thing was already discussed and set aside at committee stage, it looks like a bit of a stunt. Still, it’s sound populist tactics and might cause the Minister a bit of embarrassment, particularly as ISP speeds are mentioned in the program for Government.
"We will mandate the regulator to require all broadband providers to publish average speeds for each package.”

Comreg "claimed" they would insist on this in 2006 I think. It probably doesn't need legislation!

You wouldn't get away with marketing nappies the way Broadband and especially Mobile is marketed here.

The Government I think when NBS was "invented" didn't want any proper figures and honest marketing as a not a single NBS customer has Broadband. It's Mobile or Satellite.
