Heard something alright but nothing about Canadian traders, but more so European traders! Fur prices have risen dramatically over the last couple of years due to a huge demand for fur clothing in China!
Fur prices for fox is around 65 dollars at the mo and almost 200 dollars for mink. I don't know if any of this talk is true but here's hoping!

Hopefully not, back when there was money in it every tom dick and Harry was lapping and trapping all with .22's. It was tough times and the fur trade did feed allot of families but I'd say another rise in popularity would really damage shooting.

A ya have a point there alright! I was thinkin more on the lines of the mink which is what I'm into.

The money too be made was massive back then not so much now, so mink alone won't draw allot of people, it's a loosing battle with mink anyway till the fur farms that they are escaping from get the kick in the arse they need.

At 200 dollars a mink skin! Thats better than any fox pelt ever sold for here! There'll be hoards of new age trappers out on the river banks!

Who's paying $200 for mink in Ireland doe, any mink gone wild won't have top dollar coats. Don't get me wrong I'd love to see them wiped out here but theirs no real money in it for the trapper, I'd say a club would pay you more for them for their vermin count.
Foxes god help us if they survived the last onslaught noting in the world will remotely damage their numbers, I'm more worried about inexperienced idiots running around trespassing and causing accidents and us getting tarnished with the same brush.

The Canadians are offering €30 for a mink pelt, skinned, scheme only on a trial basis yet.

Well that might be true but their getting top dollar for wild pelts in the USA! If mink pelts are only worth pennies here, that means fox pelts are worthless if you look at price difference!
I got those prices off a link which showed typical fur prices at auction in 2013! Record price for mink, and set to rise this year!

O right, havn't heard anything about that! 30 euro is a far cry from what their making on them in canada but not bad all the same!
Skinning a mink is a piece of pi**! Bought a mink trapping dvd years ago made by the famous G Waters and he shows how to skin and dry mink pelts for trading! Done a couple myself, and nothing to it really!

Anywhere there is a cold winter the mink would grow a better pelt but 30 Euro is a fair price but won't draw loads of people hopefully.
Seen that DVD by waters alright he's some trapper.

Yea there would have to be a season of maybe only a couple of months like in USA and Canada! Even at that our winters are unreliable!

No number, trial going on last few weeks to provide 100 pelts, ideally it would have been completed earlier when fur was in better condition.

From what i've heard trial is underway currently with some folks over last weekend to discuss. From what I know of the Canadian fur trade our fox skins would not be nearly as good and even with a cold winter very limited to time of year you could take a fox with a decent skin, you would also need head shots if shooting as bullet\pellet damage not normally accepted, trapping would be the norm

i was told its 25 a fur and first order is to see if the fur is suitable,if not it wont go ahead

    SCUTTLEBUTT UNTIL OTHERWISE CONFIRMED
I hear tell the NARGC are involved in this somehow and thats it a "game dealer situation" You can only sell thru the already appointed two county NARGC reps at their fixed price. Anyone hear likewise or differently??

Yes, could be more than a trial, friend stopped by last night, with brochures and info from a course he and another local club member had attended recently in Tipperary. Setup by the NARGC no less. They had Canadians over showing skinning and pelt preparation techniques.

Seems head shots are not really acceptable either, shown photos of samples they had done, pelt skinned out including the head, said they would rather the head fur not damaged either.
