    hi,

Was wondering could anyone give me advice.....I have been just accepted onto the Pgdip is School Guidance in Maynooth....However, I am having no luck finding a school for the Monday placement. I have sent out over 50 emails and have got three replies to say that the school can't accomodate me. Any ideas on what schools accept people for this course?

try everywhere. also quite a few mix it up with dip students so make sure to clarify that you're not a dip student

Calling in in person would help too.

i found awful trouble trying to get a placement for teaching practice when I was doing mine, i remember applying in january for the following september and still being rejected. make a few calls. I'm sure the principals on here will have good advice if they read this :)

are you stuck to a particular catchment? No harm in ringing a few of the ETB schools.

    best of luck!

Maybe Emails wasn;t the way to go! How about calling in person to hand in a CV maybe chance asking for the principal or deputy! Get on to the University also and ask them if theyve a list of schools..

What's your general catchment area Kildare/Dublin/M50 belt?

I find that a strange comment, surely every school is called on its own merits whether its a vol sec school, comm school or comm college.

In my own school we have 6 student teachers, 4 of whom called extremely last minute (two started this week but were only in contact with school in Feb) and principal gave them hours as he saw them as potential subs down the line, two are doing Irish, which is supposed to be a rare find now. The students said themselves that the ETB schools were a lot more open to their situation (maybe because they were so late in getting a placement).

I know every school is different but some schools will take more than others, especially at short notice. Or if Frances1 got onto an ETB Sub Panel, it might help them also!

Thanks everyone for your replies.... I will be a qualified Business Studies Teacher and only need a placement for a Monday for the guidance counselling...It is in the Kildare area...I guess I should take a day off college and go into the schools as suggested
