Air tightness around suspended metal ceiling

I am at the stage of beginning to first fix inside but looking for advice on air tightness.
I have a concrete slab fitted so need a suspended ceiling to take services. When fitting the slab i wrapped it in air tight membrane. I read on here that the normal way to finish the ceiling is to mesh over the membrane that comes down the wall, scratch coat it right up to the slab and then fit the suspended ceiling over the scratch coat.
My only dilemma with this is i would have to have all my first fix wiring and plumbing done before the scratch coat but wouldn't this make it hard for plumber and electrician to run wires and pipes if there is no ceiling in place?

The other option i am thinking of doing is.. I have left the membrane hang down 8 inches on the wall and my dropped ceiling will be 6 inches. So would it be air tight if i fitted the suspended ceiling directly on to the membrane, this would mean then i would have 2 inches of membrane below the ceiling which i can mesh over and scratch coat up as far as the dropped ceiling.

Do you think this will work or how do people get around this?
Any advice would be appreciated. :)
